The Logix5563 is a ControlLogix processor from Allen Bradley. The processor has a user memory of 8 megabytes and can handle 32 tasks with 100 programs per task. The Logix5563 is also referred to as the 1756-L63 controller. This processor communicates with other devices in a system using the single built-in RS-232 serial port. The processor can handle a maximum of 250 controller connections. The Logix5563 is part of the Logix5000 family of controllers. Controllers in this family support the RSLogix 5000, Relay ladder, structured text, Function block, and Sequential Function Chart (SFC) programming software and accommodates either EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Data Highway Plus, Remote I/O, SynchLink, or third party process and device networks communication options.
The serial port available on the Logix5563 supports ASCII, DF1 half/ full duplex, DF1 radio modem, DH-485, and Modbus via logic communications. The processor is powered from the backplane where it draws a current of 1.2 Amperes at 5.1 Volts DC and 14 milliamperes at 24 Volts DC. The Logix5563 dissipates 3.5 Watts and has a heat dissipation rating of 11.0 BTU per hour. The Logix5563 has a basic insulation type which has been tested for 60 seconds at a voltage of 720 Volts AC to record a 30 volts continuous isolation voltage. The Logix5563 ControlLogix supports maximum analog and digital I/O connections of 4000 and 12800, respectively. For a backup memory, the Logix5563 supports the use of either the 1784-CF64 (64 megabytes) or the 1784-CF128 (128 megabytes) CompactFlash card. The Logix5563 also uses a battery to back up the volatile memory. Connections to the Logix5563 are made through a terminal block with slots available on the processor to key the terminal block. A locking tap is also available to anchor the terminal block on the Logix5563.
